Do you find it hard to delete dead friends or relatives from your phone?
I find it hard to do, it just feels like I'm putting them to death again.

My husband deleted my Mothers number from our phone, just said we don't need it anymore. Just seeing the number was a little upsetting, so best deleted.
I left my phone (and thus lost it) on the bus and my dead ex's number was on it -I was truly gutted :(
I have an FB friend who died and I wouldnt ever 'delete' him -just hope he is left there -like a wee memorial for him.
It is like a memorial (my mum's handbag and contents is hung on the door of the room she stayed in at my house and I don't know when I'll ever bring myself to chuck it out).

Andy, you've reminded me of a family who lost their daughter. The family buried her with her MP............Months after her death the father rang the phone, only for it to be answerewd .........what a shock............. It turns out the network had issued the number out, if it's not used for such a length they do that.
Yes.

Society, I like that.

for such a length,,.......^of time,,,,,^ they do that.
When my sister`s husband died, she didn`t delete his voice from their answerphone for about 6 months. I found it quite spooky.
If I had the recorded voice of a deceased loved one, I'd cherish it.
oh i agree naomi.
So would I...I even found my Dad on youtube...it's a really short clip but I watched it over and over again. Funny thing is he's sitting with my OH's Dad...we weren't even together when it was filmed..
Oh, ummmm, aren't you fortunate!!
Ummmm, did you make a copy of that Youtube clip? Hope you did; something like that is to be cherished.
It would be nice to have the voice of a loved one preserved on tape - but only to be listened to at special times. Naomi and Ummm are very lucky to have your recordings as I don't have one of my mother. I hope you are able to keep them (maybe get them copied).
I was very shocked to hear my dead mother's voice on the answerphone and I don't think keeping it on as the standard message would have been right.
You're mistaken Andy. I don't have any recordings. I wish I did. I think Ummmm is very fortunate. If I had a recording of my mother's voice even as a standrd message on an answerphone, I would never delete it. I'd love it.
The landlady of the pub where they took the video has copies...as well as loads of photos. I was moving at the time so she's kept them for me.

Another good thing we have is my Sister trying to record the parrot talking...and you can hear my Dad talking on the phone in the background. Looking for the start...!!

That parrot used to swear in an Irish accent :-)
Now that's got me thinking....when I was little my Grandad (Mums Dad) use to record certain nights in the pub (landlord) he must have some recordings of my Dad from the 70's and 80's....

I will question him tomorrow...
I once knew a parrot called Moses (well, it would be wouldn't it?). His vocabulary was something else!!

Treasure what you have Ummmm. x
