hearing aids

has anyone had any dealings with the company 'hidden hearing' please?

if so, was just wondering what your views on them are..

after a home visit today, my aunty is concidering buying from them.

(a pair of aids cost from £4,000 up to £8,000, so theyre not cheap!)

yeah, she approached them.

me and my mum was with her this afternoon and there was no pressure from the representative.
he was very good and informative, showing and advising her what their aids were all about..
and yes, they did appear to all be very good ... but just very pricey! lol ....

They seem to be a legitimate outfit judging by what I read about them after a quick Google. I just am a little bit gobsmacked at the cost! lol

Dont know how old your Auntie is loooby but, thats extortionate.
She would be better going to see her doctor for advice.

My son who is 31 gets them free.

trt, my oh has hearing loss but was told there was a very long waiting list for hearing aids and if he wanted to get some sooner he would have to pay for them himself.

cheapest was £4000, next model up was £6000 and the top of the range was £8000.
(that is for the 2 mind)
they were dinky little things, and even come with a little remote control! ..
my, how things have progressed since the trumpet eh?! lol

First thoughts:
A hearing aid is basically a microphone feeding into an amplifier, and then into a speaker (= earpiece). Dozens of Chinese technology companies can put that lot together for under a quid.

OK, what 'Hidden Hearing' offers is probably a bit more advanced than that, but do you really believe that what's on the chip inside their device is so special that it needs to be priced in line with the cost of a dozen good quality laptop computers (each of which contains hundreds, or possibly thousands, of chips of equal quality)?

It's a con!!!!

Get your aunt to go to her GP. He'll arrange an appointment at a hearing clinic. Then she'll get a perfectly good hearing aid, free of charge, courtesy of the NHS.

shes a very active, young spirited 70 year old (youd think she was only in her 50s, looks etc wise)
she tried an nhs one, but couldnt get on with it.

loooby, it dosent matter how active or young spirited your 70 year old Auntie is, she is entitled to free hearing aids and should ask for a second opinion at her surgery.

£4,000 up to £8,000 is a rip off, believe me.

yeah, when you compare the prices like that, they do seem a bit OTT dont they..

he was explaining how their aids work, comparing them to a nhs one which basically just amplifies sound and thats it, which can be very uncomfortable/annoying especially when it comes to back ground noises etc, ie in the supermarket with ringing tills going on around you, crowded rooms with people chattering away...

so, from what he was saying and demonstrating, yes their products do sound very good and very impressive ..... (which of course they would wouldnt they) ...... but at a whopping price too!

Hi loooby. I got mine from the NHS and they are digital with a an additional switch I can use to help cut out background noise and concentrate on speech in front of me in close proximity

yeah, i know what you are saying trt, but i was just trying to explain that she wasnt a doddery old lady, thats all..

and yeh, like i said above, shes tried a free nhs one before, but couldnt get on with it ... it made her ear sore, it kept whistling, the tube kept coming loose, noises/sounds were distorted, so in the end she gave up on it..
thats why shes concidering a private one..

loooby - if she tried one a while ago I would recommend she goes back to the NHS via her GP. They have made fantastic developments now

I have the loop system as well. Mine are a little bit different to combat the piggin tinnitus lol

There's your answer then loooby! See if you can persuade to try the NHS one again - it saves so much money. I don't even have to pay for the batteries
