Really sore leg; doc says come back in 6 weeks.
61 Answers
My right leg is killing me, I have a lot of pain in the back of upper leg, going down to my ankle. My back is a little sore too but not bad. I seen a doctor a week ago about it, and he didnt seam too concerned, said it was a pulled hamstring, but could possibly be a slipped disk. He sent me off with some normal painkillers and said to come back in 6 weeks if its not better.
But it feels like its getting worse, im not even doing anything and the pain is kicking in. Should I go see my doc again? Should I see a different doc? I dont like going to see the doc if its 'nothing' but its starting to get really sore

From the symptoms given it sounds quite likely that you have a prolapse of one of the discs in the lumber region of the spine. Keep your self mobile and see what actually makes it feel worse, if it is bending and twisting then it is further indication of disc prolapse. Ibuprofen is none effective as it is an anti-inflammatory not a pain relief.
Make an appointment with a different Doc and take along a diary of what makes it worse or what gives you some relief. They will be reluctant to send you for further tests as the only way of getting a full diagnosis is an MRI scan, which are not cheap.
I have had three Ops on my lower spine so i know what you are going through, currently awaiting admission for a fourth op to have the lower four vertebra fused together and then plated and screwed, not bad for a forty year old!!

Gee HH you have been through the mill-hope you get fixed soon...
Have to say though -Ibuprofen is a good painkiller as well as an anti imflammatory.Different strokes for different folks but I wouldnt touch Paracetomal (not that you suggested it) in any shape or form -far rather Ibuprofen which has a dual purpose.
I think it sounds like Sciatica but then again the advice would be rest.
Have you tried an Osteopath or Chiropractor jp? NHS dont fund for that but I have had excellent results from them when I could barely walk and im not alone.

2nd opinion....for Christs sake give the first Doc a fair crack of the whip.¨
The UK is not that "knee deep" in Drs that we can dish out two doctors for one patient´s condition.
Maybe a second opinion if the second opinion was a Consultant, but who is to say that one GP´s opinion is better than another GP´s opinion.
