But he liked to drink, I could tell then that he wouldn't live a 'normal' life, he managed to keep a job but died in his 50's of alcohol abuse. I do believe some people have an 'addictive' personality gene. I worried for ages about my smoking and after 50 years I have finally given it up.
Scarlett, your post made me think, although I'd already mentioned previously that alcoholism can be hereditry. But I can completely agree with the addictive personalities, and funnily enough, I posted earlier about my father being an alcoholic. But I'm a recovering anorexic!
So it probably shows that there is some kind of addictive personality there!
