Stye in the eye

Does anyone know why styes turn up, how to cure them or how long it will take?

A stye is just an infection in a hair follicle around the eye, usually they will go of their own accord within a few days if you just leave them alone.  Particularly nasty ones may need a course of antibiotics to sort them out.

Had one a few months ago - put a hot flannel on it for a few hours and the next day it went pop, and then was gone! Icky!

My son had one last week, I put Brolene eye ointment on it morning and night for 2 or 3 days and it went.
