A work colleague's boy friend suffers from hay fever.  He has been told that taking a spoon of local honey at this time of the year will help to build a resistance to the pollen.   I can see the reasoning behind it.  Does anybody know if this works or not?  Might it not make matters worse!

I've heard this too, a few people seem to swear by it.  But I'm a vegan so couldn't try it.  This website might help: http://www.greenwitch.co.uk/Health%20Problems/health13.htm
i don't know the answer to this but i would be very interested in any methords about this as i suffer from it terrible, i think im going to have the injection this year and see if that helps.
Not all Hay Fever sufferers suffer from the same cause - with some its pine and others its other things so you'll have to keep trying.  Good luck
The basic problem with nthism premise is that the honey may be local but the pollen that causes the hay fever symptoms may be coming from far away places borne by the wind. In the US you can purchase honey from bees that visit a particular type of flower (maybe because of its abundance around the hives) and sold as such. again dont know how effective iot is. I have found that my hayfever symptoms are delayed well into the season by taking garlic tablets daily. You can also get pollen injections under the skin to build reisitance to the pollen.
I've heard that as well. I think it's on the homeopathy principal that a little of something bad builds up your resistance to it so come the summer he'll be less badly affected because his immune system will be more used to it. Sorry if I've made a complete blunder if there are any homeopathists out there!
