My friend and I (both mid 60s) were on our usual morning dog walk today when a man started shouting abuse at us regarding our dogs. We've done almost the same walk, at least once a day, for 6 years. Both dogs were playing ball and not bothering anyone. He started effing and blinding at us saying the dogs were scaring his baby (baby was 6 month's ish old and being held quite happily by it's mother). My friend suggested that it was his tone and language that would lead to the child becoming upset to which he hurled even more foul mouthed abuse. As I said - why are some people so nasty???
seems to me a case of an abusive individual who saw someone he thought he could rag off at and get away with it. Had you been younger (sorry not being offensive there) and he thought for one second you might retaliate he would have probably kept his gob shut and found someone else he thought he could walk all over..... sounds like a right dick to me
What also makes me cringe as this sort of behaviour also goes on between familes whilst out in public. Husbands and wives shouting , cursing and swearing at each other and the children. And it is so common.
I agree with coccinelle, this man seems to be jealous for some unknown reason that you and your friend are happy walking your dogs, he probably has problems in his own life. Just rise above it masma. ... although it is very upsetting ... and by the way I love your doggie photo :)
Me too! Some girls/young women can be so intimidating when in a group!
Only last week I was trying to reverse into a parking space, where a group of young girls & lads were congregating. I politely asked them to move so I could park, only to be given filthy looks & sneers - rather than them say whoops, sorry!
I wouldn't mind, but this wasn't in a car park, it was in the road outside a shop!
I don't like uncouth people of either gender but must admit that girls who swear and shout and act like this seem to me to have lost all their feminininity
Headwreck - no that's not the dog we have now, that's Jetspoon who died last May. We now have Coco, a collie cross, who is just as lovely.
Thank you for your replies, it's good to know there are so many kind people in this crazy world xx
I saw a group of chavvy girls in town the other day - they had 'hard' faces. They also had lips the same colour as their faces - not sure if it was a spray-tan accident or if it is the new fashion. They were gross - they were like another species.
I was talking to a large dog tied to a post outside Tesco at the time - nice looking and intelligent dog. At least it smiled at me - those girls just had a hard glare.
Hello Avril - hope you are all well. Such loutish behaviour is not so rare, I regret to say. Did you see B00's thread this week? http://www.theanswerb...y/Question994135.html
I hope that this instance has not put you and your friend off your daily outing. As you say, I am sure he would not have treated himself to you as an easy target had your son been with you. The good advice is to ignore him and his like, not that I think I would have done that. I have such fun with words, at times. ((HUG)) for Coco please ☺ Viv ♥
Hello Viv - all ok ish here ta, hope you and yours are well.
Yes I did see BOO's post, what can you say about such behaviour.....
The idiot who abused my friend and I will certainly not put us off our daily walks, people like that make owning (?) a dog even more worthwhile.
Coco says 'thank you very much' for her hug xx
Beats me. I think they just want attention. I would say to him to keep his voice down as HE was the one making most noise and bother so IF anybody was in distress it was mostly down to him frightening the baby, AND the dogs!
