I know im sounding a bit like a broken record with this no smoking malarky, but....

Ive tried Googling this with no success so im turning to you lot (sorry!). Is it possible, or have you or know anyone who gets pains in the arm from a nicorette patch?

I've been wearing patches for 2 days now, the 16 hour ones, and ive noticed every now and then the arm it's on, will go a bit numb and tingly and just generally feel weird. It's freaked me out a bit and ive just taken todays off.

Is this a normal side effect? And if so, is it worth it? Think id rather bloody smoke!

The patches you mean Red? Aye you could be right!
I'm not sure that's completely true, I'm sure I've seen lots of people on here who have said they gave up and haven't smoked for years. Suppose you can only do what you want to do but it's always worth a try, even if in 26 years you decide you prefer being a smoker.
Stick with it Boo, I used the same patches when i gave up 18 months ago, i remember having a really dull ache in my arms for about a week and my patches were 6 years out of date (d'oh) I feel real proud of myself now though. Oh, and the weight gain your worried about if its any help i became completely addicted to satsumas (and still am).
Good luck, it really is worth the struggle in the long run x

Thanks :-)
I had this and an itchy rash. In the end I switched to the Nicorette inhalator (Boots also do an identical, cheaper own brand) which I found more bearable and effective. I haven't smoked a cigarette for nearly five years now: the bad news I'm afraid is that I still get cravings. Good luck! :)
Don't worry BOO. We need moaning buggers on here. It makes life more interesting. At least when you are thinking about not eating it will take your mind off not smoking. Hope you succeed with both.
Hi Boo - just spoke to my dad and he's not smoked for four weeks now using the tablets from the docs. He says the side effects are minimal (he really went on and on about it for about fifteen minutes!), and that he feels better in himself. He was smoking 25 a day and sometimes up to 40 a day. If you consider he has done this now (it is the first anniversary of my mother's/his wife's death today then the tablets must be good!
Boo - I do one day on one arm and the next day on the other arm and it avoids what you're describing. If you still feel a bit funny try a lower dose patch - when I first used them I was a 20 a day smoker but the step 1 patches made me feel awful (shaky, irregular heartbeat etc) and the GP said I was getting too much nicotine and downgraded me to step 2.
Once a smoker always a smoker ? That's not true. I smoked for over 25 years and I can say that there's no way I'll go back to it. Smoking smells, your breath and clothes all smell, you have this horrible stuffy smell in your nose: I'm saying this cos I've just come in from watching the Arsenal Barcelona match with some friends who smoke.... and this is what I'm having to put with yet again.
Breathing clean air is all worth it.
Cannot answer your q B00 as I have never used a Nicorette Patch - couldn't find one big enough to cover up my gob :o(
nicotine is a highly toxic nerve agent so I wouldn't be surprised if it's making you numb.
