Does she, or doesn't she?

In a bit of a dilemma here, not sure what to do :/
I have crazy feelings for a girl I work with, I have done for a while, but it's only recently I've let her know how i feel. She's amazing. Beautiful, funny, down to earth. I've been working with her for about a year now, and she constantly goes for the wrong types of blokes, who lie, cheat and mess her around. I can't stand it when they do that to her :/
She's agreed to go out to dinner with me, but seems reluctant to do so, I have no idea how she feels about me, or if she even likes me. She can be very hot and cold with me.
She said the only thing she's hesitant on is the whole working together thing, but i'm not sure.
We get on great at work, and to be honest, the best bit about working there is being with her.
Sometimes, I'll text her, and she's keen, the next, it seems like she just forgets about me completely.
I have no idea where i stand.
Is it previous relationships making her be this way?
I can not stop thinking about how amazing she is.
I don't usually talk about these things with my friends, so I turn to the anonymity of the internet, what do you think I should do guys?

At the moment it sounds like she sees you as a work colleague and a friend. Do the dinner date and try to take it steady and just see how things develop, don't be too impetuous or you may scare her off.

I'm basically the same at work now with her as I was before I let her know how I feel

For years I worked beside a guy I really liked - but I never let on that I liked him cos I also liked my job and didn't want to cause any awkwardness. Even when he told me he liked me I still kept quiet because I was worried if we tried going out and it didn't work then it'd spoil our friendship and ruin work for us both. I eventually told him after about 9 years and we are now married - but it was always the work thing that held me back, so she could well be being honest with you. Just take it as it comes and enjoy.

Smithylad I would say that she sounds as if she isn't sure about you. I presume she knows how strongly you feel about her? If she knows that and she feels similarly then she will tell you I'm sure. I could be wrong but I wouldn't get too excited. When you say it feels like she forgets you completely it sounds like she isn't too bothered about you. If you don't text her for a while out of hours does she instigate?

karenmac - that's a nice story. 9 years is a long time to wait though! what made you eventually tell him how you felt?I have really liked a guy for about 6 years and he has had a girlfriend just about i realised how i felt about him. I've never told him but I have such strong feelings for him.
