Is this Chinese guy interested in me?
5 Answers
I have known this Chinese guy for almost ten months. We met when I first arrived in Beijing. He's local and was very friendly from the first day. After a few weeks I realised that there's a mutual attraction. He started staring a lot and turning around. Then he started chatting to me. Because we work in a government agency I was always wary of starting something. In the summer we had lunch a few times. He seemed to know about my family and plans for the future. I know Chinese men are very long term and think about marriage, etc.
Then in the autumn I went away a few times and when I came back he was really pleased to see me! He was keen to know who I went on holiday with.
Just before christmas I decided to make a small move and text him. I invited him out for a coffee. He replied within a minute! We had dinner and the chemistry was undeniably difficult to hide.
When I came home back from christmas he discovered that he's going to another Asian country for a job promotion. I'm aware he was inadequate with his current job position. Again he asked me my plans for when my China contract expires. He still seems so interested in my future plans. When we had dinner he said he will definitely be back.
I said to him that we should go out before he leaves. He said he doesn't know his schedule. He's being slightly cool with me. I've shown that I'm interested in him. Are Chinese men slow or shall I just be patient? Obviously it was Chinese New Year this week so of course he's busy. Do you think he needs time away from me to miss me or think alone?

Also since you've been out a few times, from my own experience it only takes someone to do or say the wrong thing for everything to suddenly alter your perception of them, so without knowing him, you and everything that has been said and done in minute detail I don't think anyone could tell you.
If I were you, I'd remain open and friendly and just make casual contact and re-iterate that you'll miss him ( do it in a way that could be construed as purely friendly) and would like to see him before he goes. That's all pretty normal if you've been friendly with someone, so shouldn't look funny or embaressing, and then you will just have to read the way he is.

Hi
As an Oriental guy living in a western society, I know first hand how 'we' men act. I'm only generalising here but for most of the part, you have to really make your intentions and actions very clear.
I've dated girls from different cultures and know that I have to be more open and forthcoming when dating outside my race. I've had to change my approach to dating.
Oriental guys will 'woo' or court you over a period of time so don't expect him to kiss you on any of the dates too soon...its not to say you can't move in on him...actually, expect to do alot of the work yourself because we're a shy bunch...but he will know you're keen on him; but then he's already keen on you hence all the questions. He's trying to find out if there's another guy involved, or if you're looking...and, if you're keen on him.
However, having said that, White girls are like trophys in China...so do be aware...but I'm sure he's a nice guy and if he is...he'll definitly treat you right, cos thats one thing Oriental guys know, is how to treat a lday!
