Aww Steve! Stop selling yourself short. If you've talked like that about the future and she says that then I say "what are you waiting for?"
If it helps I know Mr Wingnut quite oftened worried about us getting together as he thought he was holding me back, esp with his ill health so I would think it is natural to question it, just don't do it for too long!
Ive since found out too that most of his family expected it not to last and said he would be back (he moved 100+miles to be with me) within the year. Oh well, how wrong were they! :)
It happens,some even get married

I guess I do have small doubts pixie. Maybe I would rob her of her youth? maybe she should be out partying still. I would love nothing else but to marry her and have children. For the record, I am a young looking and acting 45yo who still loves pubs and clubs so mebbe not so much of a gap.
People mature at different ages, for many reasons, some early, others later. Yes, a young woman of that age is most capable of loving and with all sincerity. However, might the relationship be based on your wanting to love and protect her, rather than a two way street ? This woman might well be your soulmate, the way to find out is not to imagine the future with her...try to picture it without her. If her feelings echo yours, you are onto a winner ! You might well break her heart by ' letting her go ' . Talk to her about your fears, I think you might well be surprised.
Tsk Steve we crossed posted! What you have just put is what Mr Wingnut worried about too! It shows now serious you are about her to question that! :)
Then follow your heart & go for it. We only get one shot at this thing called life.

I cant imagine my life without her in it to be honest and she says the same. We have other complications to work through so will have to take it one step at a time. Thank you so much for all your comments and opinions, much appreciated :-)
If those are your only doubts, Steve, go for it and be happy. I was ready for children at 21 and never regretted it. Still have time to party sometimes, too. I wondered if you had doubts about the relationship. I don't think you do. Don't second-guess her. She knows what she wants!
"When he's 90 she'll only be 44. The gap doesn't bode well for the future."

Loving the maths there! In 45 years time she will have only aged 22 years.
If you are both happy, go for it! It might work out, it might not but that could be said of any relationship. Who knows what the future holds, enjoy for today.
It all depends on the people involved - some relationships will work; others won't.
My missus' sister was 20 when she met her OH, who was 40 at the time. Now 25 years (ish) later, she's now 45 (ish ??), they have 2 children and have been married for quite a few years now ..........
I was 25 and my partner 50 when we met. We are still together after nearly 20 years. Carry on if it feels right.
When I was 18 a man of 56 proposed to me. I said no. I thought about saying yes but only for a second, because I would only be marrying him for his money.
I think regardless of age, any relationship will be different at the start than later on. If it is early days for you (if you have been together less than a year) I would be wary of marriage and babies just yet. Get to know her properly, and she you. She has plenty of time for children and being male, so do you. Just have a nice time and see what happens in the next year or so.
Yes, of course. Why not? If that's what you both want, go for it! :o)
