Age Gap.

You dont become bad by asking someone out no matter what the age gap is. (Provided you accept the answer if it is no!) I went out with someone 11 years older than me for 5 years or so, but I found him to be very controlling.

Relationships with a large age gap can have their own problems, but in the end it's about the two people involved. If both want it to work, then age will soon not matter. I'd say ask, and hope it works out. Good luck.
