I had relationships and children but wasn't able to commit to marriage. I'm thinking of marrying with the perfect mate for me. I have not met anyone more fulfilling in my life except him. He hasn't asked yet but says he has every intention of doing so. He is five years younger than me and for whatever reason decided not until his late fifties. I believe him but I will be sixty by then. What can we expect at that age or time...

If you believe you have met your soulmate and aren't too set in your ways to share every waking hour with him, I say go for it.
you've been non-committal yourself so I suppose you can't grumble if he's now the same. But I wonder how he knows he'll be ready to ask in X years if he isn't now.
