i live with my partner and we have a joint mortgage with have two children each from separate relationships where do i stand if one of us dies ? we have not made a will ...
We are in a similar situation, although married. We have made a will because then you can be sure that all your children are going to looked after as you would both wish. Its just peace of mind for all of you.
Get down the solicitors and make one, don't delay.do it,it will save so much trouble and upset, arguing etc if something did happen. the mortgage may be paid off if you have joint life insurance but as for the rest .it creates problems
My husband and I made mutal wills. This means if one dies the other cannot change the will in favour of someone other than the children, even if they remarry.
And don't forget, if you belong to a company pension scheme, to make sure you have written to the pension fund trustees letting them know what should be done with any moneyin the form of death benefits in the event of your death. If you don't, the trustees will exercise their own discretion and this may not be what you want to happen.
