My friend just got back from Rio on her honeymoon and loved it, she said people there are fab and were so friendly. She said it was as if it was party time every day!

I would suggest the Caribbean - Jamaica or St Kitts - lots to do there lots of activities - horse riding, fishing, walking, safari, walking up Dunns River Falls which is amazing! Go visit the place where 'Cocktail' was filmed - I think its called Runaway Bay...just a chilled out fantastic place - had a wonderful time....
Hi Lorla my fiance and i are going to Hawaii for our honeymoon that is when we get arond to setting the date :) Other popular choices are Las Vegas, ST Lucia, Bermuda, Barbados, Thailand. Anywhere is reachable nowadays. I wouldn't worry too much about the facilities the resorts have to offer i'm sure you and your hubbie will think of other things to do :)
I got married in June and went to Japan and Malaysia, both were fantastic.
Although as said earlier, it's not so much the place as the mood you and your new husband are in - you'll enjoy being together after all of the effort of the wedding.
This is where we went in Malaysia - truely outstanding and really like paradise.

We were treated so well too and there is little to do except relax and enjoy yourselves!!
I personally was disappointed with Mauritius (I went in 2006), wasn't quite the full on paradise experience I was expecting. Although the hotels are really lovely - depends what you want out of a honeymoon.

We went to Mauritius last year for 3 & 1/2 weeks for our honeymoon. It is beautiful and there is defo loads of other stuff to do except water sports. They have a place called '7 colours of the earth' which is natrually formed from volcanic action and is now a mass of different coloured sands. There is an extinct volcano, national Park, salt pan place (whatever it is called)They have a famous hindu temple with lake which we went to. There is monkeys running free and they are really welcoming. You can go to the capital 'St louis' and explore the other sides of the island. We got a taxi driver to drive us round some of the sights we wanted to go to. They have sugar canes growing and they make the best rum using it (Green Island Rum)
We loved it and would love to go back in a few years.

Hi lorla, me and hubby went to Isla Margarita off the coast of Venezuela and stayed on The Laguna Mar Resort. The resort is massive with 8 swimming pools and private lagoon. We upgraded to a Junior Suite which had the biggest bed I have ever seen. We also took a flight over to Venezuela and flew past the tallest waterfall in the world, went on a jungle trek and walked through an amazing waterfall. Would highly recommend going here, you can do as little or as much as you like. Check out tripadvisor.com for ideas and comments on places to go. Congrats by the way.
You might want to consider Italy. In my next life I am going to be Italian. They have the climate, culture, language and style to die for. Just make sure you are safely married before you go there because my fella also asserts their ladies are topnotch too. Rome has masses to offer for a relaxed honeymoon. You can do beach resort stuff elsewhere any other time in your lives together.
we went to Borneo last year . Reef and rainforest tours organised it. You can do you own itinerary. We visited Turtle island, Gomatong caves, orang utan sanctuary and the Danam valley. Fantastic country. Well worth a visit. We had a night in Kuala Lumpur at the Mandarin Orient for our last night. Infinity edge swimming pool on the third floor outside. Amazing view. wow.
Enjoy

Hey Lorla
By NO means am I selling or promoting america. However, with the current exchange rates, virtually everything there is half-price! Consequently, there are some fantastic values available that provide opportunities for people to experience that they may not have been able to enjoy previously.
The following destinations are by American grade, Five star resorts. Here in the UK, there are every few places that can obtain such a rating even the famous Clivedon can not achieve such a ratingwhich I find fascinating.
Besides being a priest, Ive spent my life career planning and escorting individual and group travellers of exceptional means around the world. I also have the honour of escorting people with disabilities on holidays which otherwise they may not be able to enjoy.
As honeymooners, these locations, without question, meet your requirements and keep you away (more or less) from having to rely solely on water based activities.
But most uniquely, the places I will recommend also have an additional feature: virtually all of them have staff photographers. Its so unfortunate when young people show me photos of their honeymoons, where all the photos are either of him or her, but seldom together. Its something worthwhile considering.
In any event, I hope these destinations will be of interest to you. I also recommend the states for many honeymooners because of the relative ease in travelling and budgeting, as well as the diversity of the destination. Because cars are de rigueur in America, you have the opportunity to explore the vastness of the country, find your own private places for memories, and enjoy one another. Continued in further parts:

The last link Im providing is for cruising. Whilst I recognise its all about water, cruising doesnt mean you have to be involved in water activities. Its also an excellent way for young people to plan their honeymoon budgets in advance, as all meals (five meals a day) are included in the price. However, gratuities can get the best of you if you dont plan in advance. It is also the reason that Ive recommended the resorts herein as they all are on a FAP (Full American Plan) which means their prices include three meals a day.
Congratulations and I wish you the best together.!

In the mountains of West Virginia, the Greenbrier is one of the most famous resorts in the world, specialising in spa treatments, horseback riding, cooking school, ice skating, and thousands of acres of forest trails. A unique twist is that the property has hidden beneath it, a secret bunker, designed to protect the United States Congress and Senate in the event of a nuclear holocaust.

Located in the Virginia Mountains, the Homestead is a bastion of old-world lucury and elegance. Originally, the Homestead hosted all the private railway carriages that came from Americas wealthiest destinations and is also renown for its unique spa facilities. Where the Greenbrier knocks you back by its grandeur and opulence, the Homestead embraces you with her old-world luxury and style. If you want a special suite, Id recommend staying in the tower part of the Homestead.

Located on the southern Georgia shores of America, The Cloister is again wrapped in elegance an luxury. Whether its dancing under the stars to a live band, to a barbeque along the sea front, where youre driven in a caravan to get there, The Cloister is one of Americas most unique luxury destinations. A benefit to this resort is that the island is located immediately between historic Savannah Georgia and bustling Jacksonville Florida. The people are delightful and represent the finest of Southern Hospitality.

Sadly, I was caught up in the events of September 11, when I was on an American Airlines flight heading into New York when the towers were struck. We ended up in Canada, stranded for days. Trying to get back to England, I became again stranded in Miami. I hired a car and drove to the Florida Keys, where I boarded a private yacht to take me out to Little Palm Island. It is truly one of the most romantic private islands Ive ever visited. Dinners are along the waterside by candle light, or your staff will (literally) serve you in the water at a private table located several metres into the ocean. Private bungalows are beyond romantic, with tubs designed to accommodate 3 or more, an outdoor shower and virtually anything you could ever wish for. My neighbour was to be Elle McPhearson, but sadly she became stranded in Denver whilst enroute to Miami.

Some cruise lines are better than others in celebrating honeymooners. In selecting your cabin, make sure the beds can and will be converted to a double, rather than twins. (most do nowadays and some are already king-sized beds, such as on the Queen Mary 2). But its best to ask. Dont immediately discount the idea of cruising by saying you get sea-sick. Take a Dramamine the night before you sale, one on the first day of the cruise and one on the second day. Youll never have a problem. AND make sure you dont travel on an empty stomach, which can be the greatest cause of sea sickness. You will be photographed throughout the cruise and you may either purchase the photos on display or ignore them. Youre under no obligation. Casinos can be devastating to a honeymoon budget. If you choose to indulge, then carry only a set amount into the casino each day or night and stick to that regime!
And heres a simple guide for understanding the difference between a four star hotel and a five star hotel. A four star hotel is the height of luxury, immaculate throughout, and with every imaginable amenity. The staff are trained to respond to virtually any request you may have.
A five star hotel? The difference is that a five star not only has all of the above and more, but perhaps more importantly, rather than meeting any request you may ever have, a five star resort anticipates your wants and needs!!
Bon Voyage
