I lost everything I had because of my ex husband. I have put it all behind me now, but he still, after 2 years of splitting up, he tries to come back. All I do is remember where I was then and where I am now which is pretty good to say It's only 2 years I have built my life back up.
Best thing to do is just put it all behind you and move on.

i agree that its best too move on lil, but some women do forgive violence or affairs (men as well probably). I couldnt if violence was involvd as I think theirs a shift in the relationship, i' also think you'd be living on eggshels wondering if/when it will happen again. Same probly for affairs when you think about it.
I agree with velvetee...those are things that would cause me to change the locks. As for an affair......that is very dependent on what else was going on in the relationship at the time. If the guy is basically a serial womaniser...then he should be shown the door. If,on the other hand,it was a momentary lapse in what has been a happy marriage for BOTH....then lots of talking is called for.
When I found out my ex was having what seemed to be a long-term affair, I was very surprised-as he really was not the type. I also chose to keep my knowledge to myself...and left him a year later when the time was right. I was not that bothered by it because I had accepted that the marriage was over well before all this.

oh i could NEVER forgive a pedophile that doesnt bear thinking about. I agree also with you pastafreak. In my opinion people who are happy in a relationshp dont go looking for affairs. it must be a shock but maybe it acts as a wake up call?suppose its up too the individuals wether they want too try again.

I couldn't forgive violence (and didn't). I couldn't forgive him trying to put me down or disrespect me in any way, be it by lying about something important (small lies are ok), cheating (unforgivable, unless just once and VERY apologetic), or generally being a condescending arse.
I wouldn't forgive violence towards children, ever. Although I'd like to think I'd have judged him pretty well by the time we're actually together.
