Where are the nice local girls?

Sadly I lost my wife and best friend to cancer a few years ago.

I thought now is the time to dip my toe in the dating scene.

I\'ve recently put my profile a couple of dating sites complete with photo but all the viewings/chat requests are from women miles away.

The only local women are ones without a photo.

As long as they are reputable sites, I'd say stick with it. These things will never happen overnight. You'll probably wait quite a time for anyone suitable and then 3 will come along at once. ;-) Happened to me - then when I was on the verge of arranging to meet up with one nice looking lady, I went to a friend's birthday party and met someone the old-fashioned way! I always thought it was a ridiculous saying - "you'll find someone when you're not looking" - but in my case it was true. I went to that party to help a close friend celebrate her birthday - not to find romance with a fellow guest. It's a strange world!

how do you know the ones without a photo aren't nice?
Do you go by looks alone then?

I think its only right you can get to see a picture before going on a date (unless its a blind date of course).

The dating sites encourage you to submit a photo as you are more likely to get messages.

The thing is there are so many issues around dating after lose, that its really difficult to deal with all of them here.......................

But dealing with the photo issue, im sorry but i dont believe ALL the local women dont put photos and ALL the women far away do......................... so why are you seeing it in that way........................... i have been on dating sites for some time and i certainly havent noticed this phenomema !!!

Perhaps you dont understand how to limit your parameters and search requests???

Also there is nothing wrong with you contacting someone first. Local girls are probably out there - depends on your area i suppose. Good luck
