Help, advice needed!!

i have split with my partner, everyone knew it wasnt going anywhere. My ex has recently rented his house out to a friend. Me and my ex's tennant have become close. He says he wants to go to the pictures etc. But when it comes to the day of meeting up it always falls through. I have asked him why plans are made then broken, he tells me its because he is scared of getting hurt i.e. relationship wise. He has also said that he doesnt want to fall out with my ex's family as he regularly drinks in the same pub as them and is friends with my ex's younger brothers.

he texts me and says he wants to be with me and then further down the text he asks, 'why has my ex been round to my house'? This has not happened nor have i had contact with my ex. Im not sure whether the lad im involved with is trying to reassure himself or is it that he is being led to believe that my ex has been having contact with me??

This sounds like a tricky situation to be in.
The thrill of the chase but none of the consequences.
If I were in your situation I would try and spend some time getting to live a little more being yourself with your mates or someone not so close to your ex.
