decided to try this one as my DIM "do it myself" diet didn't seem to be working. I've bought the books and calculator etc on-line - but am a bit confused about how many points i'm supposed to have. i thought the minimum was 29 a day and then the 49 over the week - but my friend in work says she has only 21 a day (and its propoints she's doing) - does anyone know please? 36, 5ft 3ish, 12st 3ish. thanks x

29 for a woman. 49 extras over the week if you need them.

thanks! i thought it was that xxxx
I would suggest 23 to 25 by experience to start with.

Keep yourself to 20 and save up the balance for a treat in what you crave,

In my case, it was cheese.......

I also found the Canyon Ranch cookbook a godsend - really nice flavoursome recipes and allowed you to seriously stay in the points - make sure you have plenty of mustards in stock!

I am male and followed the points down behind the missus who went for the weigh-ins. I just did it in the bathroom and plotted the results on to a graph - and remember no more than minus a kg a week - beyond this, you start to become a candidate for a gall bladder op, especially if you are over forty, fat, fair and freckled...... (sorry to be blunt).

I lost 3 stone by this method over 6 months.....

Good luck

well done on your weight loss DT - that's fantastic! and i may well keep an eye out for that book! (as far as gallstones are concerned - had my gallbladder removed 18 months ago after going through a very stressful time and not eating my way through it - foolish i know!). since then i've piled the weight on, had a baby, and piled more on!! i'm determined not to be a fatty in time for his 1st birthday party though! THanks for the advice xxx
I am a Weight Watchers helper so if you give me your age, weight and height - either in imperial or metric - I'll work it out for you.
Sorry didn't notice your stats at the bottom. Will work it out now!!
Yes it is 29 pro points and 49 weekly extras. I wouldn't advise going down to 21 points on a regular basis as 29 is the minimum recommended points. Hope this helps. Ruthiex
Good luck Nini4.
I stared Pro points two weeks ago and so far have lost 4lbs. I am on 33 points but actually only use about 28-29. I don't touch my weekly points or my activity points but if I know they are there if I need them. So far so good.
