First time on this thread. I have decided to give my liver a 6 week rest as I have read that in that time it regenerates itself. Just completed the first week. Prior to this I was consuming approximately a bottle of 9% wine a day. Result so far. 3lbs weight loss. 1 inch off my waist. £28 saved!

Henrietta I totally agree, I'm just saying I didn't gain weight from beer during my diet.
Grasscarp where did you read that the liver can recover itself in 6 weeks? Is that true even for hardcore abusers or just light drinkers?
Certainly not true for regular drinkers
who is that challenge for? Not me, I hope. I don't eat cake.
Sorry thatsmethatis, i just reread your post and it's true, if you stopped all the unhealthy crap and changed your diet around and had loads of drinks as long as you were in a calorie deficit or were just breaking even to your bodies needed daily calorie intake then you wouldn't put any weight on or in your case even lose weight. :)
Tilly ok then the naught food of your choice ;-) henrietta thanks yes that was the point I was making.
I couldn't eat the same thing every day for a week. That would be stupid.
Very silly but vital to my point.

Henrietta - You are an inspiration. I read ages ago that the liver can regenerate itself. It said it takes 6 weeks without alcohol to have this effect. I also heard of someone with a very poorly liver being hospitalised. After a couple of weeks the liver was much improved purely through person not having any alcohol during that time. There is definitely something in it and the effects I am experiencing so far, on weight, waist size, clarity of thinking, skin looks brighter, no hangovers and more money in the bank are all reasons to carry on.

JNO. I will drink less than I was before after October 4th.
I gave up alcohol once. Worst hour of my life ;-)
grasscarp, what's happening on October 4th? Is it your birthday?
Question Author
No it is the end of 6 weeks without alcohol. My birthday occurs later this month but will be marked with nothing alcoholic, in fact I may not mark it all. Who cares about being one year more than last once you are already over 60?
