Onwards and Downwards Continues in July 2015

Hello all,

Sorry it is so late.

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

I hope you are enjoying the gorgeous weather and getting out there.

Seasonal goodies for July include cherries, cucumber, apricots and loads of other yummy fruits and veggies.

Many of these can be eaten by themselves as a tasty snack or you can mix them up as a salad.

Here is a yummy looking tabbouleh salad:

Or how about runner beans and bacon:

Yay ! Thanks :-)
"Seasonal goodies"......cucumber. Really? (Hardly seasonal and not a goody, although I do like it).
Just for the record, I do not know how anyone can like cucumber. It's on the list of "most appalling tastes", and being so watery it can spoil foods it touches. Never going to be a goodie.
Yay ! Thanks :-)
Thanks ab auntie
Surprised you don't like cu 0g. The one I had at the weekend was so sweet it was just like water melon .
I am not a fan of cucumber myself but you know if cut very fine and mixed into tuna - it makes a nice sandwich.
Ah, the number of folk that admit water melon has a taint of cucumber in it, continues to grow :-)
Down 0.6 lbs.
Well done OG! Just for the record; I like cucumber :-)
Going the right way OG . Every little helps . I have gone down 1lb probably due to more salads last week and less potato .
Hmmmmm i wrote a longish epistle this morning but can see it didn't come through. Never mind. Have you tried salting sliced cucumber for 1/2hour to get rid of the water and then mixing it with sliced radishes, lo fat sour cream and dill....lovely with baked salmon or sliced ham.

Good on you with your loss Wendilla. Salads are good and the cocktail tomatoes now available are super. My mum used to slice large tomatoes and sprinkle them with mint sauce for a lunch salad.
Down another 0.4 lbs.

Still very quiet there ! Has everyone achieved goal save me ?
"Completely forgot about weigh in this morning . I have my daughters cat here while they are in holiday and looking after him and watching he don't get out is a full, time job lol. I feel,as if I have stayed the same well let's hope I am right but be a bonus if I have lost .
Hello all,

I've been in hospital again with pneumonia and today has been taken up with getting back to the rehab center which will only be until Sat. And then it's home and a start of a new life and new routine with more training here but in a non live in basis.

Hope I can balance in our scales long enough for a reading next Wednesday!
Good grief....just raided the sale, three pairs of trousers being way to large and getting that scrunched up look under the buckle. I then came back and measured my old 40s and they fit with relative ease, suggesting a 41 waist, down from 46 since Feb. Time to look up local tailors and get quotes on the alterations of the others - I've four pairs of 42s and they are fine for the moment, more than enough slack around the middle. Weight loss is 2 stone 8 but been static this past two weeks, time for another decrease me thinks, but it now goes down in steps of a kilo, I have noticed,
M and S cherries are better than Tescos or Sainsburys I am finding.....munch plenty of those and they are a natural anti-gout medicine too.

I love cucumbers - bring on the gazpacho!
Well done DT . Isn't it a super feeling when clothes get too large for you . Keep up,the good work . Not too keen on cherries except for in a cake lol but thanks for the tip .
It is XSTITCHERS birthday today . Happy Birthday . She came home from hospital on Saturday . So lets all hope she continues to continue her good progress.
Indeed. :-)
Thank you!
