What are the differences between first line and second line management?
As many answers as possible please, I need to put together a 15min presentation!

First line management is normally the person you report directly to, second line is the person your boss reports directly to.

First and second line management is normally used in disciplinary matters, the first line manager is usually restricted to the level of discipline they can give (i.e, verbal or written warning), second line can normally go to final written warning - this does however depend on the set up of the business in question.

Some second line managers have the power to dismiss.
