We had the proof they are on another planet yesterday...

How much is the Old Age Pension, Mr Clegg?

about 30 a week was his reply.

The OAP is 90.70 for a single person and 145.45 for a couple
Liberals being fair, is this the same liberals that stiched up the incoming Tory administration in Bournemouth, the place of their conference at the eleventh hour on election night ?

He is just trying to emulate His Tonyness of coursde by nicking Tory policy. He forgets of course it is not politically acceptabel for the Tories to offer tax cuts or the labour smear machine will leap into action rumouring that doctors and Nurses will be cut. The sensible amongst of course know there are 800 000 useless civil servants to be dispatched and far from runing our lives it will remove the busy bodies poking their nose into our business.
Like most politicians their leader is completely out of touch with the ordinary person, take his knowledge (or lack of it) on Old Age Pensions.

Beat me to it Gromit, but at least I did include a link, even though it was from your favorite newspaper.
I'm warming to the Daily Mail. It is very racy
Specifically what do you think is crazy in that Geezer?

The aspiration to cut income tax for 9 out of 10 families?

He's attacking the Tory principle of "trickle-down" - give tax cuts to the richest and they won't spend the money on luxury foreign holidays or German Sports cars but will invest it in the UK.

It seems he's opting for trickle-up - give money to the majority and that'll mean they'll spend more money in the shops and businesses of the richest

not objecting jake, just wondering how they think they are going to win enough seats to form a government, why they do they theink they are "Heading for Government"? Lib dems can say what they like, safe in the knowledge they they'll never have to implement it.
They say it makes you go blind Gromit, no wonder you have been making one or two typographical errors of late.
-- answer removed --
You could well be right AOG. I'm not too accurate at the best of times, but I had made a lot (more than usual) typos this week.

I need an holiday, can anyone recommend a good muslim country for me to go to?
...have made a lot...

No more proof needed.
England, Gromit
Suppose I asked for that one.
I am sure that Nick Clegg knows he has more chance of flying to the moon that being Prime Minister but -

he has to talk up his Party, and put forth the belief that they can and will be the party of government, because otherwise he will be saying things like -

"Well, I know we haven't got a hope in hell of being elected, but let's pretend ..."

and that will simply see him out of office in about thirty seconds.

It's all pretence, but that's politics.
The way I look at it is like this:

Maggie and her Tory cronies sold the country to the highest bidders, proving themselves totally untrustworthy.

Tony and his "New Labour" cronies were voted in to reverse Maggie's work, but decided to carry on in the same vein - proving themselves totally untrustworthy.

The Liberals probably are totally untrustworthy, but at least they haven't proved in when governing the country.

I do wonder about this "going Green by taxing pollution" idea - if it means no income tax, but (higher, presumably) taxes elsewhere it might work. I somehow suspect that it's not what they mean though.
They have as much chance of winning the next election as a one legged man has of winning an arse kicking contest.
A one cLEGged man ?
He doesn't mention the next election though. Or the one after that. Or the one after that. 'Heading for government' could mean gradually getting there over the course of several decades. Given that it's a speech for his own party, I can't see much wrong with him saying that?
