How long before I hear back following interview...

I know it's not a black and white answer.

had interview last Tuesday and it seemed to go well. Their words were, "we hope to let the preferred candidate know 'about' the beginning of next week'... It was Monday yesterday,,, no call... It's not 9.10am Tuesday...

Do you reckon if I don't hear by Wednesday, it's a 'no'....

Do you think I should call them Thursday if I still haven't heard, or put it out of my mind and continue looking..?
