you could start by deciding what you want the logo to be? Just a picture or words too? Big, small, mono or coloured? The content of it is pretty much up to you but you could get a professional designer to prepare the actual logo to your instructions, and he might come up wiht ideas as well.
you could try using the initials of the compnay and combining them to form a 'shape'... look at some fonts to get ideas
With a pencil and paper?
Why not find a local design agency or cheaper still, a freelance graphic designer to help you design it. Yell.com is a good place to look, or freeindex (google it). If you come up with some ideas of your own to help point them in the right direction it will save you a lot of money rather than going through many redrafts. Incidentally I work as a freelance designer and I always advise my clients to sit down and have a proper think about what they want because it saves a packet.
Contact my colleague at BNI (www.bnisutton.co.uk) He specialise for logo and website design. He's Keiran Wynyard [email protected]. He's a good start for advice with this. Kind regards, Rey.

If you are designing a leaflet, it can be very easy to get carried away with your design prowess. The truth is a good leaflet is one that generates response, and to do that you need very little. So rather than trying to create a masterpiece that reflects the life, times and deeper meaning of your company or service, follow these guidelines to get a leaflet that does what you need it to do: generate customers.
