Barcoding on books
A friend has a wholesale book business stuck in the dark ages without any computerisation. He is convinced that barcoding would not work as he deals in a lot of end of line stock, prices and discounts vary for every title etc etc. Although I know zilch about barcoding, I'm sure there is a system out there that would give hime the flexibiliy he needs. Any pointers welcome.

Nowadays the same ISBN number also appears in barcoded form on the book cover. With a barcode reader he could very quickly record books going in and out (sales), with no chance of recording the wrong ISBN.
You perhaps need to ask him how he 'logs' the stock currently - using barcodes tied back to a stock management system on a computer is the obvious way forward.
