Bankruptsy fees

Following on from my bankruptsy post of yesterday, i have looked up information.
There is no way i can afford the fees .
Does anyone know if there are any schemes to spread the payment for the fees ?,.

I don't know of any schemes, but would it not be possible to wait until one of your creditors petitions for your bankruptcy? The costs would be theirs.

If your debts are under 15k and you have less than 50 per month spare income then maybe a debt relief order can help you, it only costs 90 quid

i cant post questions on motleyfool today sallabanannas for some reason. I have an appointment to see the local c.a.b friday so i will see how they go .
My debts are 26 thousand so cosmic unfortunatley i wouldnt be able to do a debt relief order.

Sorry kerriesmum, but I suspect there is no way of paying by instalments. Ask the CAB.

You definitely cannot pay by instalments. However, as I put on my answer to your other post, help from charities might be available - ask CAB.

there you go.....you can only go skint if you have the thick end of £600 in readies for the fees

Daft isnt it? your skint but the only logical way out is to raise a serious amount of cash you have not got .

When I had to apply for bankruptsy last year, the solicitor suggested to me that I stop paying things like utility bills and rent and save this money up to pay for the court fees. You can then include the ultiltiy bills and rent in with your bankruptcy order anyway so it does not matter. It was the only way I could afford the fees as well. It seems ironic that you need to have money in order to go broke!

Also, if you are on a low income like you seem to be (and like I was) you may be able to get legal aid to help with the form filling in and you may be able to get some of your fee back once you get to court. You ust make sure you take it all with you tho otherwise they will not process your claim Having being through this recently, I understand how scary it all seems but it really is not as bad as you think. When I went, the people at court were so friendly and helpful and I did not even have to see the judge. It ws all over and doen with in under 20 mins and the Offical Reciever stuff wa ll done over the phone and again, so helpful so do not panic too much. You can get away with it for quite a while with the power companies before they cut you off for example making "token payments" to them like £5 instead of the bill will keep them at bay for some time
