I get working tax credits as I am on a low pay, when I claim my pension next year, and will carry on working, will I still claim working tax credit - or do I stop before I claim my pension ? Surely I wont get both
People over 60 have to be working at least 16 hours p week. This comes from the Tax Credit Technical Manual, and there is no reference to an upper age limit.
However, your pension will be treated as income in calculating your entitlement & that, added to your earnings, may mean your total income is too high to get WTC, or the amount of WTC will reduce.
OK - so it's likely your WTC will stop. But don't just assume that. When you get your pension tell the Tax Credit people the date it started and amount & let them work it out, making sure they are also told you are continuing to work and what your earnings will be.
