I notice that Moneysupermarket.com does not list Bank of Ireland products. From visiting the BOI site I see that there is an 18-month fixed term deposit scheme on offer at 5.60% gross/ 3.70% AER which seems to me to be worthy of being drawn to savers' attention. Are sites such as Moneysupermarket sponsored by Banks etc, thereby showing only their sponsors' offers? Are readers aware of other offers out there which are competitive and which do not appear on these sites?

Are you sure this isn't for a ROI-based account and hence in Euros?

It's advertised in my local BOI branch here in Northern Ireland. I'm certain that it is Sterling.
When I worked for a large Bank we often used to moan that although we had some of the best Mortgages around at the time they rarely appeared on these lists. We were advised that the Bank refused to pay to be included.
Those are not good interest rates though. In reality the interest rate is 3.7% before tax.
Earn 5.60% gross1 / 3.70% AER2 fixed

The 5.6% is for the whole term, not per year.

Very naughty and misleading, in my opinion.

Compared to what is on offer for 1 year bonds at the moment, this is very attractive. (Though still miserly). The Bank of Ireland's 1 year bond, for example, is 2.8%.
