Free money!

Sorry, I'm not giving it away - I'm trying to find some! I'm trying to find out whether I can get some money to help my son get through college in the USA. He has a partial sports scholarship (with the potential for it to become a full scholarship if he does well) but I still need to find some funds to help with tuition. He could get an international student loan, but with a US co-signer, which is proving difficult. I'm sure there is money somewhere that has been put aside waiting for people to claim it for reasonable activities. I just don't know where to find it. I'll bet there's a few people out there who'd also like to know the answer to this question so if anyone has any clue, please let us know! BTW, he's not averse to working for his money, so if anyone also has any good fundraising ideas, please let me know those too. Thanks in advance.

I'd ask at the school or college where your son is currently studying as I'm sure they are aware of many ways of obtaining scholarships etc.

I was thinking about scholarships or sponsorships which might be offered by some of the sports company - Nike and so on?

Trust me, unless something has changed in the last 12 months, there is no money put aside for students in the US. My son had a full sports scholarship covering his tuition, food and board, but he still needed some pockey money and we had to pay £800 every six months to fly him home too. He went on to do a Masters, and managed to get a student loan to pay the fees due to the length of time he had been living in the US.

He wont be able to work out there, as he will only have a student visa.
