It would seriously dent your ability to do so, but not out of the realms of possibility

It would be dependant on a number of factors, for example
How long ago was it?
Was the debt ever repaid?

Thank you for your answer
It's only just been awarded and it's for a ridiculous amount £400 which I intend to pay ASAP
the problem is once you have a CCJ, the type and rate of mortgage available to you will decrease dramatically. You will probably still be able to get one, just at a ridiculous interest rate, many times that of someone without a CCJ. I fit's a ridiculous amount, and you intend to pay it, it kind of begs the question why you didn't pay it in the first place to avoid a CCJ

It just got forgotten about - it was for water rayes
If it's literally just been awarded if you pay it within 28 days it's removed from the register, so pay it pronto if it has. If not there are companies who will give you a mortgage but at elevated rates as said previously.
It's not as simple as it being paid within 28 days and it doesn't go on the register - that's not true
You must apply for it to not go on there, if you don't fill out the paper work it will go on your credit record
Actually OJ you apply for it to be removed- which can be done ay any time- since you're in a nitpicking mood.
Once a CCJ is issued it goes onto the register- if you then pay it within 28 days you can apply for it to be removed- there, better?

Thank you so much for your help
I did not know I could do that - and I have a relatively good credit rating apart from this
You can but there is a strict 28 day deadline for payment. Pay it via card- get an email confirmation from the company you owe that it's been paid, phone the county court up to let them know it's paid and they will give you an email address to send the confirmation to- do that and it will be removed within the next 28 days.
Perhaps the other side of the bed would have suited you today?
No I'm pure fine thanks for asking, it's just I find pedantic nonsense pretty damned irritating, whichever side I get out of, especially when the said pedantic nonsense isn't even correct. Have a nice day.
Is it true that if you have payday loans that it will eventually affect getting a mortgage? I heard someone in the office say that you can't get a mortgage for two years?
