I paid 1.75% on goods I purchase online outside the eurozone.
When I queried how much I'd pay on a €10 item, this is the reply I got.

"When paying for goods or services outside the euro-zone – 1.75% of the euro value of the transaction (min €0.46 max €11.43)"

I cant figure it out, can someone tell me how much I'd be charged if I bought something for €10 .
Thanks.

My understanding is that 1.75% of 10 euros is 0.175 euros which being less than 0.46 euros will cost you a charge of 0.46 euros. (Plus the 10 of course.)
1.75% of €10 = €0.175, so you'll pay the minimum amount, which is €0.46.
Damn ..... I type too slow :P

I think I get it now, so if I buy something for €100 would I still only be charged just 0.46c ?
the minimum 0.46 euro
Just to clarify:
1.75% of €653.14 = €11.43, so anything costing €653.14 and above, would incur a maximum charge of €11.43.
My understanding is that 1.75% of 100 euros is 1.75 euros which being more than 0.46 euros will cost you a charge of 1.75 euros. (Plus the 100 of course.)
1.75% of €26.29 = €0.46.

So anything costing between €26.29 and €653.14, would be charged at 1.75%.

If you buy something for €100, then 1.75% of this, is €1.75, so that is the amount that you'd pay.

The Post Office credit card does not charge for purchases made abroad

I never use a debit card abroad due to the hidden loading charges. Use a credit card. Santander Zero is OK. I did apply for a Post Office card but they wanted me to phone them every time I went abroad (which was ridiculous as I spend half of my life abroad).
yes, it's worth having a credit card with no charges for use abroad. I've got a Saga one
