My Dad moved into a nursing home in January. Mum still lives in the family home so he is fully funded. We just got a bank statement for him and there is no sign of his state pension being paid into his account. Should he still get his state pension paid to him or is it going towards paying his carehome fees?
my mums been in a care home for 3 years and her state pension gets paid into her bank.she then has to pay that minus her personal spending towards her care.it may be done differently in some areas.
well its never been suggested that mums pension goes direct to the care home and shes been in 2 now as we wernt happy with the first one.my brother has poa over mums finances and draws a cheque each month for what she owes.in some ways it would be easier if it did go direct to the home as she gets charged £10 each month by the bank for printing a cheque.
both I and my wife have worked in care homes and my neighbor is a matron at a care home. We all say you can get the pension paid direct to the care home , it makes things easier. queen 1954 I suggest you ask the home about it £10 to write a cheque is absurd .
unfortunately not as he dosnt have internet,he tried to set up a direct debit but as mums account isnt a current account they cant do it hence he has to get them to produce a cheque each month.the home is owned by hampshire county council and thats who she pays the money to.thanks for your suggestion though .
