Credit Card Insurance
8 Answers
Hi, I want to buy a used car online, if I paid for half of it via credit card and the rest from a debit account will the credit card cover all of it or just the half I've paid via the credit card. I've never bought a car this way before or spent that much on a card but as the car is miles away it's the only way I can do it. I'll probably pay it off quite quickly.
In case it makes a difference the car is from Cazoo.
Thank you

It seems illogical to me but the good news for you is that the Section 75 protection you get from using your credit card applies to the full amount and not to just the half that you used it to pay for.

Most credit card accounts have T&Cs which do not allow payments resulting in a negative balance (i.e. significantly increasing the available credit) exclusive of refunds of previous transactions.
Furthermore, a large sum added to the account would most likely trigger anti-fraud procedures that could lock the account.
