if my name is on a loan taken on behalf of somebody else and they default how do i get my name off the loan ?

You don't it's your loan, the fact that you gave the money to someone else is irrelevant to the lender. I'm afraid you are the victim of your own kindness, learn from this.

You Cannot, it is YOUR loan. Bitter pill I know, good lesson learned though I hope.
