tax

i am in a part time week end job and i have been paying tax for the last year .
i know i am eligable to claim this money back and have sent away for it , along with my p45, a week ago.
i was told in the tax office that i would receive my money in around three weeks.
is this true in most cases? or will i have to wait much longer ?
can anyone help?

I'd be surprised if you get ALL the tax back, unless you have been on emergency tax all year (ie didn't bother to sort yourself out a proper tax code). Some of it, yes.

If the tax office told you 3 weeks it will probably be a bit less.
