Banks will start by offering you a percentage of what you have been charged, say 50%. You just need to refuse and threaten to take them to court. They ALWAYS pay up, I'm pretty sure that no-one (so far) has had to go as far as Court to get their money back.
It depends whether you are happy with half (or whatever), after all it is money you weren't expecting. Personally I would hold out for the lot (and am going to).
It's suprising how quickly it adds up. I have recently requested a breakdown of all my charges from NatWest. So far they have sent me copy statements that cover 2000-2002 and there are 150 worth of charges on the first page!
Bear in mind that until Dec 2002 I actually worked for NatWest and so rarely incurred charges (we weren't allowed to go overdrawn) I can't wait for the rest to arrive!!!
hi cheeky chops yes im with natwest too and same for me was so surprised at level of charges of course we should not incurr them and hubby says nothing to be proud of but hey 5k coming my way - lovin it!!!
Mine were 4700!! ...shocking I know, after 8 weeks waiting I`ve been offered 780, I turned it down and I`m waiting for another offer, they said i can have the 780 as a goodwill gesture
