Request to use credit/debit card as ID
3 Answers
V concerned and would like feedback from bank person. Husband works for big contractor and carries ID and wears company clothing. Works in MOD service quarters, usually off camp. Now required to have other ID to access sites. On list of ID choices they had credit or debit card and 3 statements TO BE HANDED OVER TO SOMEONE AND TAKEN AWAY while paperwork sorted. Obviously said no way but some might. Is this common, should they be told to stop? Cant believe this.

I am currently serving in the Royal Air Force and on my camp we have never asked for civilian staff or contractors to hand over credit/debit card details or bank statements.
Who exactly asked for this information? Might be worth speaking to the OC Police Flight at the unit and check why they require these from you and if the person who has requested them is within their rights to do so.

Thanks for quick answer. Did ask hubby to jot down details from form but of course he didn't. The housing is looked after by a new agency as of last year as you probably know. It is linked to them but is an organisation acting for them to get security of workers going on MOD property. All I can say really. Hubby and son (work together) have left D Licenses and some house bills with their supervisor so if they had used c cards they would be elsewhere till Monday. This cannot be right. Especially after reading of lorry driver at RAF Wittering who was allowed to go around camp, supplied with map, on strength of deliv note and d licence!!!. What is going on with security out there. My hubby has been on very very sensitive jobs for 25 years and he says the best security he encountered apart from MI5 and Nato was the Imperial War Museum!!!!. I hope they get security right but glad you are surprised like me at risk of handing over v personal items even tho super says he will not leave any with this agency.
