Gas/Electric Supply

Today I have had a young man wanting to do me a favour by checking the tariff I am on for Electricity (and/or Gas - it was not clear). Then I realised that he was from Southern ELECTRIC but I am with British GAS for both gas and electric, but he insisted that he was helping me getter a better rate without once mentioning that this would involve changing supplier. I regret to say, I then told him to leave in no uncertain manner. Despite the publicity, and horror tales, of these people forging signatures and making false entries for their own sake, they are obviously still at it. I know it is not very nice to get nasty with these young men, but I have had enough of being taken in by blatant lies with the resulting chaos, please confirm that I did the right thing.
