we became tenants of a housing assc property in 2005, can we still get right to buy on the house we're living in

Only if the property previously belonged to the council and you were tenants before during and after the transaction to the housing association.
Apparently some associations do the part buy, part rent schemes. As Ethel has said you no longer have the right to buy schemes under Housing Association.
