debt collecting agencies

Oh this is doing my head in! basically ive had an ongoing dispute with a mobile phone company - which ended up with me owing 177.45
as a single parent obv this is a lot of money (i took out the contract long before i fell pregnant - another story!)
anyway basically on the 18th april i paid the carphone ware house the debt in full, they said they would contact the debt agency it had been passed on to and they would cencel my account - fair enough i thought - however yesterday i got a letter from the debt agency saying i had 72 hours to pay or would face court - it was a really horrible letter, saying I will have to answer questions about my lifestyle (yeah struggiling on income suport with a 11 month old -its wicked!lol) and saying they would send a bully...sorry officer to my door to get the money!
I know that im in the right because Ive paid it, but now Im worried that maybe it hasnt reached them and im going to owe more money! and i really thought it was all over ;-(
If i can prove ive paid (bank statement) can they still demand more money?
thanks.

A few months later they wrote to say that they were going to repossess my house because I'd not kept up my mortgage payments! Fortunately, the matter was very simply resolved when I produced the receipt for my payment. It's likely that you'll be able to get things sorted out just as quickly, so don't let it worry you.
