First of all, many thanks for the answers to my previous question. Here are two more:- A. If I am declared bankrupt I will have no access to a bank account in which to pay my state pension. What can I do in such a situation? B. I have been told that if my only income is from my State Pension, I cannot in fact, be made bankrupt, is this true?

Hi

sorry to hear of your problems - have you looked at an alliance and leicester bank account?

My other half has opened one with no problems
The card is only a cash point card but i guess you must be able to pay funds into it
It can be accessed via the post office too

Hope this helps
I answered your previous post. Did you check the position with the Post Office? If not, I suggest again that you do so, because I think it is very likely you will be able to go on using their account.

Alternatively, there are 2 banks which give basic accounts to bankrupts - Co-op & Barclays. Provided you don't owe money to one of those, you could open an account. With Co-op you can do this before you go bankrupt, but make it clear to them when you open it that you will become bankrupt and need to be able to use the account after that happens. Incidentally, I think that with the Co-op account you can withdraw cash at Post Offices, but check that with them.

It is completely incorrect to say you cannot go bankrupt if your only income is state pension.
Both Coop and Barclays allow you to get cash at the Post Office using your card.

With the Coop you can also pay in at the PO - cash using your card and cheques with a paying in slip and special envelope.
In extremis the pension people will send you a giro each week that you can cash at the Post Office.

They are very reluctant to do this and will put all sorts of pressure on you for bank account details but if you persist (as a few pensioners did when the card account came in) they will do so.
