hi has any one had any dealings with Mackenzie Hall??? As i have received numerous calls from MH with a ref no to call them back which i ignored as i have no idea who theywere and i was concerned for my phone bill! ( BEING A SINLE PARENT AND WORKING ONLY PART TIME) I then received a letter asking to contact them with said ref no high lighted in red, which i left again as other important things needed dealing with. I t was bugging me a few weeks later so i rang them to find they are in Scotland could they ring me back i got a load of abuse which upset me they were very un intrsted in any thing i had to say all they kept saying was it refered to a dedt for 1200 with Barclaycard at an old address of mine in 1994!!!!!!! which i dont have no memory of i also asked how come it took 15 years to find me as ive been in my recent address for 12 years and on the electral roll they laughed at me and said they use a tracing agency well they didint do a very good job then!!!! as its took them all this time. As the debt is now 15 years old and i have no proof if its mine etc and my credit report is clear does any one no where i stand on this and how to sort it out as im at my whits end and cant afford to pay that amount back help would be very gratfull,

you need to write to them asking them to provide you with all the details you have, and then you will be in a better position to either refute the claims or to be reminded of them. it is likely that MH have only just bought the debt, so they havent taken 15 years to trace you.
if the debt is not yours, they wont want you to pay it back. However if you are jsut saying you have no knowledge of it to get out of paying for it that just wont wash with them i'm afraid.
as an aside, scotland uses national dialling codes, so it osen't cost any more to ring scotland than another town some way away from you
The debt will now be statute barred, meaning that they can't chase you for it. Mackenzie Hall are well known for buying ancient debts and trying to enforce them.

Google their name to find out more or sign up to the Money Saving Expert website where there are plenty of people with experience of MH and they will be able to tell you how to deal with them.
i thought there was something about moving house and not informing them that meant debts couldn't be statute barred? Anyway, even if it is, it dosen't mean they cant chase you for it (if it is yours), but it seems like your main problem is the fact you are disputing the debt belongs t you anyway? it would surely be pretty hard to forget you owed someone over 1000 quid, even from so long ago? You need to get in touch with them and get them to prove it's yours (which by your account they wont be able to)
If it relates to a credit card debt of 15 years ago the original amount was probably insignificant. With penalty fees and interest the debt will have escalated beyond recognition. I would have thought by now it was statute barred unless you deliberately did not advise a change of address.
Tell them to **** off!!
