Is Nat/West trying to recoup its losses by ripping off its customers. ?
I have had business and personal accounts with them for over 50 years and have never been in the red. In fact I run a credit balance of several thousand pounds. You would think they would value such a customer but this month , without any explanation, they have charged me £25 for SAFE CUSTODY HOLD. I rang up twice and it appears they are and charging for looking after an envelope that I left with them about 30 years ago. Which at that time was a free service for current account holders. I removed the envelope some years later and have never used that service since. I shall of course close all my accounts with them.
Instead of throwing all your toys out of the pram, you might do better to phone them up and explain that since you aren't using the service there isn't a reason to be charged the fee. Until you are so dissatisfied with other aspects of the service that it warrants the extreme hassle of closing everything and starting afresh.
I have already done that twice and explained in great detail but to no avail. The persons I spoke to said they had had many complaints on the same matter but they had gone back 20 years and everyone was being treated the same. They also said they would ring back and explain further but they haven't done so .
