Can anyone either a) recommend a good Independant Financial Advisor or b) advise me as to how to go about finding one? Much obliged.

Because IFA's are independent and not tied to representing solely one company they tend to be quite consistent.  Try this website which will tell you local IFAs to you

or your local yellow pages.....
........or best of all, ask a friend - recommendation is the best form of advertising.
You might also want to consider how they make their money. If they make it from commission off the products they sell, then you may feel they are pushing products to benefit them more than you. If they charge you fees, you should then know you're getting unbiased advice.
