Tax Refund confirmation email

I wondered if anyone else had received an e-mail from Inland Revenue stating they are due a tax refund(quoting amount) and requesting bank details - sounds fishy to me!

Yes there have been alot of them this year, its the latest scam.

Where would IR get your e-mail from? Just delete it.

The fact that it doesn't even mention your name, indicates it is a scam.

Tax always send you a check, they wouldn`t send you an E mail.

Hazlinny - report it to the tax office phishing line, just forward the email to [email protected], then delete it.

They have said that they never email you or expect you to fill in an on-line form.

It's a scam.

glad you deleted it - but they will know you have valid e mail address - will post my next "Urgent request" email offering me a share of $5 million from a solicitor in Nigeria

Tony, if you don't reply, they don't know you have a valid email address - they just mail wildly hoping that if someone responds, they have found a live address.

Box - I am not be 100% sure but think there is software available that can tell wether email is opened ie live

Ah, you could be right - one reason why I don't open this sort of email, I just hit "forward"!

yes been sent at least 3 times to me also the postal express email keeps appearing , must admit i opened the first postal express one thinking what parcel ? thankfully i realised before i opened the file attatched ,my son said it had been on the news about it but i hadnt seen it

TonyV, no there isn't, no they can't.

Just don't click on any links within the email.

As long as you don't reply or click on any links in it, you should be ok. I personally wouldn't forward it on, there's nothing anyone can do about it and makes you as bad as the spammer.
