I was signed into amazon today and had added something to my basket in case I wanted to come back to it and order later. I NEVER clicked to order or confirmed payment or anything. In fact I found what I wanted elsewhere so turned the computer off. Check my emails later and find the order has been placed and shipped, within a few hours! Oh and they have helpfully charged a card I do not use and this payment was not authorised at all. I have sent emails and am now on hold to the credit card company but I am struggling to understand how they can do this without my confirmation?
Try to return the order now online. I think you'll find it reasonably straightforward and I have no problem getting my money back when I had an unwanted purchase.
In the meantime nip into your account details and make sure the automatic purchase function is unticked and remove your card number.
Right so to add to this now I have contacted both seller and amazon who both tell me order has been dispatched so its too late to do anything. I can obviously refuse the item which I plan to do but the seller says I will have to pay £7.50 fo return postage. They need to refund me for the product so I guess I am stuck now financially. They will just deduct the postage anyway. Does anyone have any idea how I can handle this now? How is it fair that I am forced to pay £7.50 postage for something I never even bloody ordered!
'One click' doesn't require you to confirm the order, it just adds it to the cart and selects payment from one of the payment options you have stored with them. I agree with Milly and LL that it sounds like this is what you have done.
Right so it seems I was stupid then lol. God its so annoying, I had no idea it would do that by signing in.
Anyway I will try and contact them again to sort it out, thanks.
