Cheques not to be scrapped

Thank goodness that someone has seen sense as they were due to be scrapped in 2018.
No one could come up with a suitable alternative. I use Cheques reguarly as do many others so I am well pleased.

Also the reason they are not scrapping them is because they received a lot of complaints from members of the public who also prefer this method of payment, so they had no choice but to back down. So glad they did.

Sense at last. I rarely use cheques, but sometimes they are essential.

Great, just start charging them the true cost per cheque that's all I ask.

They get more than the true cost of the service from the interest they make on money in the account, plus the rest. Or if they don't then they should get out of the industry.

it is such a pointless and weak argument for something when your only argument is that you yourself dont use them so why should anyone else...

fact is lots of people use cheques, lots of people want to use cheques, so why should the fact that some people dont and can get their heads round those who do matter one bit.

cheques are convenient...if i want to pay a window cleaner i dont really care about 'saddling him with the inconvenience'(!) when the convenience for me is that i dont have to walk to my nearest cashpoint to get the cash.

i am amazed that there was a massive hunt for suitable 'paper-based' alternative! why try to phase out one paper system that works, is simple and familiar, only to bring in a new untried or tested one? haha...if it aint broke...

the reason i don't pay the milkman with cash is because i don't want to leave cash out on the doorstep overnight, plus cash dosent fit nicely in an empty milk bottle neck, whereas a cheque in a money bag does
i don't often have cash on me , so when i leave for work on a cleaner day, i leave her a cheque. I think most of her clients pay her by cheque, so she's hardly making a special effort to go to the bank to pay mine in.
I don't want to send £20 through the post in cash either

how much do you pay your window cleaner joko!? Mine gets a tenner, I've always got at least £50 in cash for these small layouts

but making sure you always have at least £50 around the house is surely more hassle than just writing a cheque when the need arises?...no need to think ahead etc...
what if you were caught short one week? you would have to tell him to come back...more of a hassle for him than for him to have to cash a chque from you - whilst hes also banking him takings and undoubtedly cashing other cheques too...

all this business is just banks trying to cut down on staff etc and find excuses to charge for stuff, that really is simply a tellers normal job... it doesnt really take much more effort to pay in a cheque than cash really

well I'll tell you what If I gave him a cheque for a tenner I'd have no windows to clean!
