Has anyone here used or knows anyone that has used a virtual credit card?

This is used for online shopping and the one recommended was for www.entropay.com
Does anyone know whether you also get the 3 digit security card number at the back which some sites require?

No - if I didn't want to use my own credit card on a secure site, I'd use PayPal (which means you don't give your account details to the seller at all).

I've never used paypal before boxtops although I have seen it around. Do all online vendors use paypal? How does it work?

Not everybody offers it but a lot do. I got into it through eBay - the earnings from stuff you sell on eBay is credited to your PayPal account so you can then draw down the money, or use it to buy things yourself. You can also load the account with money by transferring some from your bank account. I find it a useful tool, since you don't have to give buyers or sellers your personal details, PayPal deals with all that behind the scenes. They do charge a small fee, but it's worth it to me for the security.
