I haven't been onto the HMRC website yet as can't find the login, but if I go to the tax office first thing on Tuesday, will they have a tax return form for the last financial year ready yet? I think last year they did, but I can't really remember, I know I submitted it by mid april and the rebate went through early may. The years started yesterday but of course the office is closed until tuesday.
FGS you can't even email them, what a shower, they've not even activated the online assessment, wonder if they would have been ready if it hadn't been Easter this new financial year weekend?
Hi sibton, thanks for the link, but the new self assessment isn't up and running yet as they've gone home for Easter and forgotten to switch it on, or just not bothered to activate it grrr, that means they'll keep any rebates that bit longer in their coffers. No doubt they'll start by saying that there is a back up off applications due to Easter weekend as well.
No need to go to the tax office to get a return form, just download it from the website and print it yourself. The online filing will still be quicker, though.
Cheers Tom, I've done the calculations for my OH, got his login and UTR ready and so I'll be logging on asap after 6am, I reckon he's got £3,800.00 tax due back which will pay for a fortnight in the dominican i reckon. Better getting it back now, they've had most of it since before christmas. Noone should wait to get their returns done, it's silly to leave your money in their hands they'll only get the interest on it.
